Daniel is Running The Hackney Half Marathon to Support Shelter

Hackney Half Marathon 2025, on 18 May 2025
This May, I’ll be running the Hackney Half Marathon to raise money for Shelter, a charity that fights tirelessly to help people experiencing homelessness. It’s a cause incredibly close to my heart because, at 17, I came dangerously close to becoming homeless myself. If it weren’t for the safety net of state support and social services, I would have been without a roof over my head.
That experience gave me a glimpse into the fear, uncertainty, and vulnerability that comes with not knowing where you’ll sleep or how you’ll get through the next day. It taught me just how fragile housing security can be and how easily life’s circumstances can take a devastating turn.
Not everyone is as fortunate as I was. Too many people fall through the cracks of a system that is meant to protect them. Shelter works to change that by providing advice, support, and legal services to those at risk of losing their homes. They also campaign to tackle the root causes of homelessness, pushing for real systemic change to ensure that no one has to go through the pain of homelessness.
I’m running this half marathon because no one should face the isolation and hopelessness of homelessness. I’m running because everyone deserves a safe, stable place to call home.
Your support can make a real difference. Every pound raised will go towards helping Shelter provide vital services and support for individuals and families facing homelessness. If my story resonates with you, please consider donating—every contribution, no matter the size, will help change lives.
Thank you for supporting me, and more importantly, for supporting Shelter and the incredible work they do.
