Everyone at DKUK is employed. No chair rent, no chasing your own clients. We're a hair salon and an art space in Peckham, built for people who find ordinary salons stressful.
We're looking for a salon-ready hair stylist to join us in making a safe, queer-friendly salon that everyone can enjoy.
The Job, Up Front
Role: Hair Stylist
Pay: £15 an hour to start, which is £28,860 a year. Indeed puts the average London hair stylist salary at £25,818, so you'd start about 12% above it. Commission comes on top, and it isn't capped. It grows as your column does.
Hours: 37 hours per week, over four days.
Days: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Wednesday 09:50–20:00, Thursday 09:50–20:00, Friday 09:30–20:00, Saturday 08:45–18:00. Every fourth Saturday off: Which means four days off in a row, once a month.
Start date: 30th September 2026
Contract: Permanent, fully employed
Paid Time Off: 5.6 weeks

What Your Week Actually Looks Like
We're closed Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, so you get three days off every week. A bank holiday weekend, most weeks. One week in four your Saturday comes off too, and that's four days in a row.
Your appointments are an hour long. Not fifty minutes with someone waiting in the doorway. An hour, so you can actually talk to your client, do the work properly, and finish it the way you meant to.
Nobody sits facing a mirror here. Clients face the art instead of themselves, and it changes the whole feel of the room. It's quieter. People relax. So do we.
We still use a mirror. Every service starts and ends with one. Clients trust us more for it.
